Colorado Springs Manufactured Homes

There are many different ways homes can be built as a Colorado manufactured home or modular type structure.  We are one of the leaders for the sale of Colorado manufactured and modular homes.  There are a few ways to tell the difference.

Mobile Homes

A factory-built home constructed prior to the enactment

of the HUD Code on June 15, 1976

Manufactured Homes

A factory-built home manufactured under the Federal

Manufactured Home Construction and Safety

Standards Act. The Act, commonly called the HUD

Code, went into effect June 15, 1976.

Modular Homes

A factory-built home constructed in compliance

with the standards of the regional, state, or local

building code used by the government unit which

the house is to be located. Commonly the UBC or

IRC Code. Colorado Division of Housing refers to

these as Factory-Built Homes.

How can you tell the difference?

The only definitive way to tell the difference between

a HUD code or a modular is the labeling.

Someone may tell you that there are tricks to the

trade…such as if there is a chassis then it is a HUD

code home. Not necessarily true, some modulars

are built on a metal frame and some HUD code

homes built in the 1980’s do not have a metal

frame. …the key is you cannot tell by looking at

them. You can only tell by the label

Myth:

Manufactured homes are built with inferior materials

and construction quality is poor.

FACT:

Today’s manufactured homes are built with the same

materials as site-built homes, but in a controlled factory

environment where quality of construction is invariably

superior to what can be built in the “field.”

Myth:

Manufactured homes lack “curb appeal” and are unwanted

additions to neighborhoods.

FACT:

Today’s manufactured homes are dramatically different

in appearance from the “mobile homes” and

“trailers” sold two decades ago. Manufactured

homes today come in a variety of exterior designs that

are fully compatible with any neighborhood architectural

style.

No matter what type of home you choose, we know that we can provide you with the best quality, craftsmanship and pricing when comparing apples to apples in Colorado Springs and its’ surrounding areas.
